L’Oréal Paris Extraordinaire Gel-Lacque 3-Step System; #2 in Lacqueriste

For someone who works in beauty, I’m quite lazy when it comes to primping and preening. It’s not that I leave the house looking like a slob (Never again!*), I just happen to put a premium on sleep, and as of recently, using those precious minutes in the morning to make smoothies on the Nutribullet (get your veggies on!). It’s a feat if I get to apply concealer, an achievement if I make it to eyeliner. My go-to beauty move is a pop of lip color, usually, a berry-fuchsia.

Speaking of easy beauty, the L’Oréal Paris Extraordinaire Gel-Lacque 1-2-3 nail system is genius. Don’t let the three-step thing throw you off. Here’s what I loved about it when a coworker let me sample the set:

1) Sooo easy to apply. Goof-proof, perfect for DIY mani-pedis.
2) Results were amazing: incredible shine + ultra-smooth finish.
3) Color lasted a solid two weeks WITHOUT CHIPPING! Surreal.

Here are the steps from the L’Oréal website:

STEP 1: GEL PRIMER
Nail surface is instantly smooth and flawless.
STEP 2: GEL COLOR
Color is richer, magnified to a new level of intensity nails are visibly thicker.
STEP 3: GEL GLAZE
Shine is captured and reflected from every angle.

I tried the shades Lacqueriste (a bright pink-mango, pictured above) and In With The Nude (a creamy almond-gray). I plan on shopping for those over at Ulta.com and scoping more colors to add to my nail polish collection!

*About a year ago, on a winter morning, I walked out of our old apartment building and headed to the nearby Chase to get quarters for the washer and dryer. I literally had just rolled out of bed and put my jacket on. I must have looked like a homeless person—I had our dog with me, so the look would’ve been legit—that the guy at the counter squeamishly said they “ran out” of quarters. Lesson? 1) Never walk out of the house looking unkempt and, 2) Asians can’t do the whole normcore/fashiony-hobo thing.
